Integrative therapy explained

See what integrative therapy is and how it can benefit you.

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a form of healing that combines traditional psychotherapies, like CBT and mindfulness-based therapy, with holistic practices, like yoga, reiki, and meditation, and physical approaches like nutrition to facilitate whole-self healing.

Unlike traditional psychotherapy, which treats patients with one specific type of therapy over a prolonged period for the mind specifically, an integrative approach acknowledges the mind, body, and spirit connection and how these factors can affect your mental health.

Benefits

The benefits of integrative therapy

Integrative therapy recognizes that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treatment and that practitioners should tailor it to the individual. By balancing the mind, body, and spirit, integrative therapy targets every aspect of you as a person to help you heal from a holistic perspective. Learn more about the benefits of integrative therapy below.

Tailored

Integrative therapy recognizes that you are unique and have your own history, needs, goals, and preferences. Our practitioners develop a personalized treatment plan, including various treatments to best suit your need.

Flexible

Instead of committing to one type of therapy, like CBT or music therapy, integrative therapy allows you to be more flexible. If one type of therapy isn’t working for you, our practitioners will modify your treatment plan.

Strengths-based

Integrative therapy is a strengths-based form of therapy that draws on your  individual and community strengths rather than highlighting weaknesses.

Evidence-based

Our integrative therapists prescribe treatments that are grounded in solid therapeutic theories and have been shown through research to be effective for patients

Team approach

When you opt for integrative therapy, you’ll benefit from an alliance of therapists all working together to form a highly customized treatment plan and measuring progress.

The Spirit of Health difference

So, why is Spirit of Health different from other group practices or multidisciplinary clinics?

Collaborative care

Our practitioners collaborate to provide integrated holistic care.

Partnerships with holistic practitioners

Reimagining evidence-based healing modalities, Spirit of Health strongly leans into the mind, body, and spirit connection and welcomes alternative forms of holistic therapies for our patients’ treatment plans.

Suitable for teens and young adults

Many integrative therapy clinics do not cater to younger people. At Spirit of Health, we ensure that our integrative therapy treatments are adapted for adolescents and young adults, too, providing our services to people aged 14 and over.

Connection of mind, body, and spirit

While other integrative therapy practices might have more traditional multidisciplinary approaches to mental health care, such as assessing nutrition and physical exercise, Spirit of Health also works to lift the “spirit” with energy healing practices and yoga.

Culturally-informed and anti-oppressive

Minority-led, our clinic is inclusive of people from all ethnicities, intersecting identities, gender orientations, and life experiences, delivering therapeutic solutions through a fully-informed lens to fight against oppression, discrimination and bias.

Mental

Treating the mental aspect of your overall health, our therapists work closely with you to figure out the best form or forms of psychological therapy, like psychotherapy and CBT, for your individual needs.

Physical

We work with physical practitioners who will help to assess your bodily health and recommend different therapies, including yoga, reiki, personal training, and other exercise-based practices.

Nutritional

Our nutritionists and naturopaths will help you  understand the connection between food and your mental health while providing personalized nutrition plans to help you reach an optimal state of wellness.
